El Shaddai

When Abram was ninety years old and nine, the Lord appeared to Abram, and said unto him, “I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect. And I will make my covenant between Me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly”.  And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, giving him wonderful promises. The Lord also told Abram, “Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham: for a father of many nations have I made thee” (Gen.17:1-4)

Here, the Lord revealed Himself to Abram as the Almighty God, which means, in Hebrew, “El Shaddai”.

Some people of God in our midst are in their old age.  They may be worried about their old age or their life of retirement.  In their old age, their strength may fail. They may not get due love and affection from their kith and kin.  But the God of Abraham reveals Himself to them, “I am the Almighty God”.  In Isaiah 46:4, God gives this wonderful promise to them:

“Even to your old age I am He; and even to hoar hairs will I carry you; I have made, and I will bear: even I will carry, and will deliver you”.

God will never forsake them.  He will carry them on His shoulders and will take them into the Heaven after their death. Like Abraham, they can also get wonderful promises from God for their children, grand children, etc.  God will honor His promises made to them concerning their posterity.  They are better than the Abraham of the Old Covenant is.  All the promises of God to them are Amen in Christ Jesus.

The Lord asked Abram to walk before Him, and to be perfect. The Old Testament saints had to obey God’s commandments with their own strength.  However, under the New Testament, we have the indwelling Holy Spirit to enable us to overcome the sin, and to obey His commandments.  We can walk before our God and can be perfect, not by our own strength but His grace through the Spirit.

Dearly beloved in Christ Jesus, are you facing a difficult situation in your life today?  The Almighty God is with you because you are in Christ Jesus.  Our God is greater than your problem and is mightier than your enemies or the devil. “El Shaddai” is His Name!  You should fall on your face and pray to Him like Abraham, to get His personal promises for you.  If you fall on your face before Him, it will show that you are completely dependent on Him, realizing your unworthiness. God will move mightily in your life and ministry. These days, we find it difficult to kneel down even on the cushions in our churches and pray.  Whenever I faced some problem in life, I used to fall prostrate in my secret chambers, and pray to God.  The Lord did move mightily in my life, and performed miracles for me.

Today let us pray for the aged parents, grand parents, or the old people in our families.

“Oh, our loving Heavenly Father, We thank and praise You for our dear parents/grand parents who are with us. As You had blessed Abraham in his old age, we pray that You may bless our aged parents/grand parents with good health and long life.  Forsake them not when their bodily strength fails. We pray that You may give them revelations and visions, according to Your promise that in the last days our old people would see dreams. In Jesus’ Name, we pray. Amen.”

Jehovah Raah

The Old Testament saints got the revelation of God as their Shepherd. Moses had known God as the Shepherd of the Israelites. In Psalm 78:52-54, we find that God had led His people in the wilderness as their Shepherd. Prophets Isaiah and Ezekiel through their prophetic eyes had the wonderful revelation of Christ Jesus as the Shepherd, who would search His sheep, seek them out and feed them (Is.40: 11-12 & Eze.12-13 and 34:23). However, none of the Old Testament saints other than David did call their God as “my Shepherd”(Ps.23: 1).

David was himself a shepherd who tended his father’s sheep and protected them from the lion and the bear (I Sam.17: 34-35). The Lord Himself said to David, “Thou shalt feed (shepherd) My people, and thou shalt be a captain over Israel” (2 Sam.5: 2). As such, he knew the relationship between a shepherd and his sheep and thus called His God as “my Shepherd”.

David through his prophetic eyes saw the coming Shepherd.  Yet, he could not enjoy the full fellowship of the Shepherd in his life because Christ had not been manifested in flesh at that time.  Of course, he did have the foretaste of Christ’s love to some extent when God forgave him of the grave sin of adultery.  However, under the New Covenant, we are more blessed than David because the Shepherd indwells us.

“The Lord is My Shepherd; I shall not want” (Ps.23; 1).  Every Christian knows this verse by heart.  Our children can recite the entire psalm No.23.  This verse compresses the whole love of God for us.  I may not remember many of God’s promises in His Word but may remember only this verse.  Some may shrug off this psalm as an elementary lesson for the new believers.  However, this verse of Psalm 23 has more significance than meets the eye. You may have known Jesus as your Savior, Baptizer of the Holy Ghost, Miracle Worker, Healer, Comforter, Protector or Friend. But all these revelations encompass His Name “The Lord my Shepherd” i.e. “Jehovah Raah” in Hebrew.  The Lord is my Shepherd because He has forgiven my sins and iniquities through His precious blood.  He is my Shepherd because He has baptized me in His Spirit.  He is my Shepherd because He performs miracles for me.  He is my Shepherd because He comforts me.  He is my Shepherd because He heals me by His stripes.  He is my Shepherd because He sticks to me as a friend.  He is my Shepherd because He protects me from my enemies, accidents and diseases.

When my beloved mother and my beloved father-in-law (both entered glory) were on their deathbeds, I uttered this verse into their ears and asked them to repeat this verse so as to strengthen their faith despite their bodily weaknesses.

If I get the revelation of Jesus as “the Lord my Shepherd”, I shall not want in any thing in this life.  I need not go to God with a begging bowl in my hand because the Lord my Shepherd provides all my needs as I am His sheep. As His sheep, I feel His abiding presence, His healing touch, His warmth protection, and hear His words of love and of comfort. As my Shepherd, He feeds my family and me daily both with physical and spiritual food.

Let your children who are not successful in their education/career confess through their mouth, “The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want”.

Let the rulers of your nation not depend upon their might for protection but confess, “The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want” so that your nation can be saved from terrorism or war.

Dear pastor, let your congregation confess, “The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want” so that they can reap great harvests of blessings from God.

Dear evangelist, present Jesus as “The Lord my Shepherd” to the lost.  The whole gospel is summarized in this verse because Jesus, the good Shepherd had come in search of the lost and had laid down His life on the Cross for His sheep.

Jehovah Hossenu

In Psalm 95, the Lord is revealed as our Maker. “JEHOVAH HOSSENU” is His Name in Hebrew.  We are exhorted in Psalm 95 to sing and shout joyfully to our Lord with psalms and come before His presence with thanksgiving.  For the Lord is the great God, and the great King above all gods.  In His Hand are the deep places of the earth; the heights of the hills are His also.  The sea is His, for He made it; and his hands formed the dry land.

We are also exhorted to bow down and kneel before the Lord our Maker for He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture and the sheep of His hand. Worship means singing and shouting joyfully with psalms to our God and bowing down and kneeling before Him.  We are not supposed to worship Him in a mechanical manner without knowing His great Personality. We worship Him because He is the great God, the great King above all gods, and our Maker.

He is the great God.  The deep places of the earth are in His hand.  The visible surface of the earth and all the hidden minerals beneath its surface, which are being processed for precious metals out of ore, etc., are in His hand.  No nation, though owning the territory containing such earthly treasures can claim privy to the property of God because God is the Owner of the whole earth. Silver and gold, which are extracted from the ore, belong to Him. As such, the nations possessing such minerals in their territories should share the same with the poor nations. He controls the whole earth so that it rotates by His power.

The heights of the hills whence the rivers of the whole world take birth are His.  Similarly, the sea and the precious marine products therein are His.  We are the children of the great God Who is the Owner of the heaven, the earth and the sea.  We are the people of His pasture and the sheep of His hand.  If we get this revelation, then we can claim and appropriate all His resources for our ministries.

We are the children of the great King Who is above all gods.  He is above all political and religious leaders, kingly rulers of this world or the rulers of the kingdom of the devil.  Nebuchadanezzaar had been dethroned, and ate grass as oxen, consequent to the severe judgment of God, for his pride. He then praised and honored God “that liveth for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation; and all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and He doeth according to His will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto Him, What does thou?………..and those that walk in pride He is able to base” (Dan.4:34-37). If you get a revelation of what you are in the Kingdom of God, no ruler on this earth or the Satan can exercise any authority or power over you.

Our Lord is our Maker because He has made us in our mothers’ wombs.  He formed your inward parts in the mother’s womb.  You were fearfully and wonderfully made.  When you were made in secret and skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth (which means the lowest parts of the mother’s womb), His eyes saw your substance being yet unformed….” (Psalm 139:13-16).  What a great revelation about your birth! He took you out of the mother’s womb.  You were cast upon Him from birth.  From your mother’s womb, He has been your God (Ps.22: 9-10).

The Psalmist exhorts us finally, with a word of admonition, in this psalm that as we are the people of His pasture: and the sheep of His hand, we should heed and obey Him.  “Today if ye will hear His voice, harden not your heart, as in the provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness; when your fathers tempted Me, proved Me, and saw My work…”.  Dearly beloved, as you read this message today, you should obey Him because tomorrow is not yours.  Do not harden your heart!

JEHOVAH HOSSENU who has wonderfully made you in your mother’s womb through Christ Jesus will also make every thing for you in this world, and in the world to come. He will go before you and will make all the crooked ways straight. He will make all things new in your life if you believe and worship Him in the manner as the Psalmist exhorts.

Jehovah Yireh

In obedience to the call of God, Abraham took his only son Isaac and went to the land of Moriah.  Abraham took his son to the place where God wanted his son to be sacrificed for a burnt offering. Then he laid the wood of the burnt offering on Isaac and took the fire in his hand and a knife, and the two of them went together.  Seeing only the fire and the wood, Isaac looked for the lamb for the burnt offering.  Abraham replied to his son, “My son, God will provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering”.  When Abraham offered his son at the altar, the Angel of the Lord prevented him from sacrificing Isaac, and said, “Now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me” (Gen.22:1-14).

Then Abraham saw a ram caught in a thicket by its horns.  He offered it up for a burnt offering instead of his son. And Abraham called the name of the place “The-Lord-Will-Provide”. This means, “In the Mount of the Lord it shall be provided”.  The Lord revealed to Abraham as “Jehovah-Yireh”.

When you want to sacrifice for God the best of your worldly possessions, God Himself would provide “a ram” for you. Our God wants to test your love for Him.  As you build the altar and go to sacrifice what He wants you to, He also would provide “a ram” for you.

Are you about to sacrifice for the One Who had already sacrificed His only Son for you on the Cross?  Are you sacrificially giving to the body of Christ, the Church?  The Lord will Himself meet all your personal needs.

Do you remain unemployed or unmarried for a long time, in spite of the fact you sacrificially make intercessory prayers for others? The Lord will Himself provide you the best job or the best spouse, as the case may be. Are you still bearing a financial burden, despite your sacrificial prayers of intercession at the altar of God? The Lord will Himself provide you the necessary finances.  Today, He reveals Himself to you as “Jehovah-Yireh”.

Dear Minister, you have sought funds or helpers for running your ministry but in vain, despite your many sacrifices for His body. After spending many years in His service, you have now reached the Mount of the Lord.  In the Mount of the Lord, it is the Lord Who provides all your needs.

Of late, in my ministry to the body of Christ, when I faced a particular need, I realized my inability to meet that need.  I  shared the burden on my heart with my dear friends.  While writing to them, I was led by the Holy Spirit to tell them, “The Lord will Himself provide me…”

You should now rest in the Lord after getting such a wonderful revelation of His Name “Jehovah-Yireh” or “The-Lord-Will-Provide”. My God shall provide all your needs through Christ Jesus.

Jehovah Nissi

When Amalek fought with the people of Israel in Rephidim, Moses said to Joshua, “Choose us some men and go out, fight with Amalek.  Tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in my hand”.  Accordingly, Joshua went and fought with Amalek.  Moses, Aaron and Hur went up to the top of the hill.  And so it was, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed; and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed.  But Moses’ hands became heavy; so they took a stone and put up under him, and he sat on it.  And Aaron and Hur supported his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.  Ultimately, Joshua defeated Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.  Then the Lord said to Moses, “Write this for a memorial in the book and recount it in the hearing of Joshua, that I will utterly blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven”.  And Moses built an altar and called its name, The-Lord-Is-My-Banner”(Exo.17:8-15).

Amalek is a type of satanic forces who fight with the people of God and keep them under their bondage.  Joshua and his team are typical of those servants of God who are engaged in the direct warfare with these satanic forces by way of evangelism, prophecy, edification and building of the body of Christ. They defeat the satanic forces with the two-edged Sword.

Moses, Aaron and Hur are like those servants of God who are the prayer-warriors, reaching the top of the hill so as to meet God.  These servants of God uphold in their intercessory prayers those servants of God who are directly engaged in the warfare.  These prayer warriors have “the rod of God” i.e. the God-given authority, in their hand. Let us not call them as “believers”. They are also the servants of God.

If there are in a  prayer group, one of them would lead them in the prayer session like Moses, and the rest of them would be supporting their prayer leader like Aaron and Hur. If these prayer warriors relent in their prayer life or in their prayer ministry, the devil will have temporary success over the people of God.  Moses was the great intercessor before God, interceding for the people of God.  Similarly, we have, in our midst, precious intercessors (whom we may not be knowing personally).  These prayer warriors prevail with God like Jacob in prayers.  They travail in prayers until the children are born in the kingdom of God and until the church is revived.  These prayer-warriors have the very authority of God in binding the devil’s work on this earth.  They are like Moses indeed. These days, we recognize and acknowledge the ministries of those servants of God who perform the ministry of signs and wonders in Jesus’ Name in a visible manner.  Hardly we recognize and acknowledge these secret warriors of Christ.  There are thousands of housewives, aged people, etc. who perform this wonderful secret ministry.  They are likened to the heart in the body of Christ.

The ministry of Moses, even under the Old Testament, was a body ministry, whereas many ministers of today claim themselves to be leaders like Moses.  If we engage ourselves in a body ministry and fight with the devil, then the Lord will bring us victory over the devilish forces likened to the Amalekites. And we can proclaim His Name as “Jehovah-Nissi”.

Our Lord Jesus has already won the devil on the Cross of Calvary and revealed the Father to us as “Jehovah-Nissi”.  Are you facing defeat after defeat in your career/profession/education or in your ministry?  The Lord is revealing today as “Jehovah-Nissi”.  Let us worship Him, shouting aloud, “Jehovah-Nissi”.  Every child of God should proclaim, “The-Lord-Is-My-Banner”

Jehovah Rapha

Moses brought the people of Israel from the Red sea to the wilderness of Shur.  They went three days in the wilderness and found no water.  And when they came to Marah, they could not drink of the waters of Marah, for they were bitter: therefore, the name of it was called Marah.  And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink?  Then Moses cried unto the Lord, and the Lord showed him a tree which when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet:  there he made for them a statue and an ordinance, and there He proved them.  And He said, “If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God, and wilt do that which is right in His sight, and wilt give ear to His commandments, and keep all His statues, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the Lord that healeth thee…” (Exo.15: 22-27). The Lord thus revealed Himself to His chosen people as “the Lord that healeth thee” which in Hebrew means, “Jehovah-Rapha”.

Dearly beloved in Christ, in this spiritual wilderness, are you in “Marah” drinking the bitter waters likened to “incurable diseases?  Has your life become “bitter” because of the incurable disease, which has been afflicting you for a very long time, despite the best medical treatment taken by you? Moses changed the waters of Marah into the drinkable waters, which were made sweet by casting a tree into these waters.  Our Heavenly Father has changed the waters of “Marah” into the Living Waters through the precious blood of His Son shed on the Cross of Calvary - a cross made of tree.  Today, the Lord thy God is revealing His Name to you as “Jehovah-Rapha”.  Prophet Isaiah prophesied,  “With His stripes, we are healed” (Is.53: 5).  You stand healed by the stripes of Christ Jesus.

If we diligently hearken to the voice of our Lord, and obey His commandments, He will put none of those diseases which are afflicting the people of this world upon us, His chosen people.

Adonai

The people of Israel were greatly persecuted by the Midianites.  The Midianites entered into the land of Israel as grasshoppers with their cattle and their tents to destroy it.  The children of Israel cried unto the Lord.  The Lord spoke to them through a prophet and assured their His protection.  Joash and his son Gideon threshed wheat by the winepress, to hide it from the Midianites.  An angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon and said, “The Lord is with thee, thou mighty man of valor”.  And Gideon replied, “Oh my Lord, if the Lord be with us, why then is all this befallen us? And where he all his miracles which our fathers told us of, saying, Did not the Lord bring us up from Egypt? But now the Lord hath forsaken us, and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites”.  And the Lord looked upon him, and said, “Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the Midianites. Have I not I sent thee?”  Gideon replied, “Oh my Lord, wherewith shall in save Israel?” And the Lord said to him, “Surely I will be with thee, and thou shalt smite the Midianites as one man” (Judges 6:11-16)

In this passage, we find that Gideon became so desperate and fearful that he calls God “Oh my Lord” which in Hebrew means “Adonai – Jehovah”. Because of untold sufferings and afflictions in your life, you might have lost your faith in our God. The devilish forces likened to the Midianites might have suppressed you all these days.  Do you say today like Gideon, “If the Lord is with me, why this is all this befallen me? And where all His miracles which our fathers told us about?”  Do you also say, “The Lord has forsaken me and delivered me into the hands of the Devil”?

Out of great afflictions, when you utter the Name of God as “Oh my Lord”, your anguish reaches the very throne of God through your Lord Jesus Christ who makes intercessions for you before the Father.  Under the New Testament, we are better than the Old Testament saints like Gideon. At times, due to great afflictions or sufferings, you may not be able to pray to God but may merely utter His Name “Oh my Lord”.  On your sickbed or on the sickbed of your beloved, you may not be able to pray but may call on His Name, “Oh my Lord”.  When things go out of your control, you may simply call on His Name, “Oh my Lord”. This is enough for the mighty power of God to be released so as to deliver you.  A long prayer, reminding God of His promises in the Word, is not required in such a situation. You need not call on a servant of God on telephone to pray for you. I do not mean to say here that you should not approach any servant of God at all for intercessory prayers. The Holy Spirit leads me to lay emphasis here on the significance of His wonderful Name, “Oh my Lord”. Calling on His Name, “Oh my Lord” reaches His throne immediately and moves the Heart of God. It is like the fastest electronic communication in this world.  Further, calling on His Name, “Oh my Lord” also shows your personal relationship with your Lord.  He is your personal Lord and God

.Jehovah Shalom

When the people of Israel were persecuted by the Midianites, the Lord sent an angel to Gideon assuring him His salvation and protection.  Gideon besought the angel to show him a sign and then prepared unleavened cakes and meat for the angel after killing a kid.  He put the flesh in a basket and the broth in a pot and presented the same to the angel under the oak.  Then the angel commanded him to lay the unleavened cakes and the flesh upon a rock and pour out the broth.  The angel put forth the end of the staff that was in his hand and touched the flesh and the unleavened cakes. There rose up fire out of the rock, and consumed the flesh and the unleavened cakes. Then the angel departed out of the sight of Gideon.  Fear gripped Gideon when he perceived that it was an angel of the Lord whom he had seen face-to-face.  And the Lord said to him, “Peace be unto thee; fear not: thou shalt not die”.  Then Gideon built an altar there for the Lord and called it “Jehovah-Shalom” (Judges 6:17-24).

Under the Old Testament, if anybody had to see an angel of the Lord face to face, he should die.  Nevertheless, under the New Testament, anybody can have access to the very Throne of God through the Blood of Christ Jesus. The kind of peace promised to Gideon is different from that promised to us, under the New Covenant. Gideon got peace after deliverance from the fear of death whereas Christ Himself has become our Peace (Eph.2: 14). An angel of the Lord met Gideon, whereas under the New Testament, the Lord Jesus, the Prince of Peace Himself, not only met us but has also taken abode in our heart through the Holy Spirit.  He is Emmanuel, God with us. If Gideon had to construct an altar with stone and brick, we are supposed to build an altar for our God through intercessory prayers and sacrificial offerings for His body, the Church. Intercessory prayers raised from this altar would herald God’s peace in the lives of many people.

In John 14:27, Jesus said, “”Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you.  Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid”. Have you peace with your spouse or children today?  Is your marriage life broken?  Christ will give His peace to your estranged spouse or disobedient children today.  Worship and adore God “Jehovah-Shalom”.  Today as you get revelation of His Name “Jehovah-Shalom”, the devil, who has been destroying the peace in your family will flee from your house in Jesus’ Name.  He is a thief who has come to steal His peace from you.  Today you should command him to leave your house in the Name of Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace. Dear minister, present Christ Jesus as the Prince of Peace to those who are in need of His peace in their lives.

Jehovah Odam

Abraham entered into a covenant of peace with Abimelech and called that place “Beersheba” because the two of them swore an oath there.  After making the covenant at Beersheba, Abimelech returned to the land of the Philistines along with his commander of the army.  Then Abraham planted a tamarisk tree in Beersheba, and there called on the name of the Lord, the Everlasting God i.e. “El Odam” in Hebrew. God was a witness to the covenant of peace Abraham made with Abimelech.

Under the New Covenant, the Everlasting God made a covenant with us through the Blood of the Cross of His Son. Abraham and his people lived in peace in the very land of Philistines who were enemies to them.  Similarly, we dwell in the midst of people like the Philistines who war against the people of God.  Let us not fear them because the Everlasting God Who made the covenant with us through His Son would protect us from the inhabitants likened to the Philistines.

Abraham planted a tamarisk tree in Beersheba as a token of the covenant.  For us, the Everlasting God made the Cross out of a tree at Calvary as a token of the Covenant.   The tamarisk tree planted by Abraham does not exist today.  Similarly, the wooden Cross, on which our Lord was crucified, may not exist today.  But, His Cross does exist in the life of every disciple of Christ.

Paul said, “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.  We are hard pressed on every side yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed – ALWAYS CARRYING ABOUT IN THE BODY THE DYING OF THE LORD JESUS, THAT THE LIFE OF JESUS ALSO MAY BE MANIFESTED IN OUR BODY, for we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus’ sake, that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our mortal flesh.  So then death is working in us but life in you” (2 Cor.4: 7-12).

If we carry about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal body.  So death is working in us but life in those to whom we minister.  Dear Minister, if you want to be used of God mightily, you have to carry about in your body the death of your Lord so that His life may be manifested in your mortal flesh.  This is the secret of success for your ministry.  It is not the mere operation of the gifts of the Spirit but the death of Christ, which you carry about in your body that will release a mighty manifestation of His Spirit power through your ministry.

Your life in Christ radiates the glory of His Cross.  The Everlasting God Who made the Cross of His Son as a token of His Covenant with us is attracted towards the glory of His Cross, whereas the devil is frightened of the glory of His Cross. Jesus chose the glory of the Cross so that His eternal life is manifested in His body, the Church.

Jehovah Sabaoth

Isaiah 47:4 says, “As for our Redeemer, the Lord of hosts is His Name, the Holy One of Israel”.  Prophetically, the Name of our Redeemer God is revealed as “the Lord of hosts” i.e. JEHOVAH SABAOTH. Our Lord is having a host of angels or an army of angels.  The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him and delivers them (Ps.34: 7).  The Lord of hosts sends His angels to deliver His people from the hands of the devil, and to perform miracles. When the king of Syria along with his great army came to fight against the king of Israel, the Lord opened the eyes of the servant of Elisha, and he saw that the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha (2 Kings 6:10-17).

Elkanath, the son of Jeroham lived in Ramathaim-zophim, of mount Ephraim.  He had two wives.  One of them was Hannah who had no children.  The other one was Peninnah who had children.  Elkanath went up from his city yearly to worship and sacrifice to the Lord of hosts in Shiloh.  Whenever the time came for Elkanath to make an offering, he would give portions to his two wives.  But to Hannah he would give a worthy portion for he loved Hannah, although the Lord had closed her womb.  Year by year when she went up to the house of the Lord, Peninnah used to provoke her.  Therefore, Hannah wept and did not eat.  She was in bitterness of soul, and prayed to the Lord and wept in anguish.  Then she made a vow and said, “O Lord of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the Lord all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head”.  Eli, the priest of God, told her, “Go in peace: and the God of Israel grant thee thy petition that thou hast asked of Him”.  After worshiping the Lord of hosts, they returned to their house at Ramah. Then it came to pass in the process of time that Hannah conceived and bore a son, and called his son Samuel saying, “Because I have asked him of the Lord”  (I Sam.1: 1-20).

Here, our God reveals Himself as the Lord of hosts.  Elkanath and Hannah received a great blessing with the birth of Samuel because both of them had been going to the house of the Lord every year for worshipping and sacrificing to the Lord of hosts.

Are you like this godly couple visiting the church regularly to worship and sacrifice to the Lord of hosts?  Still the Lord has not yet granted your prayer request either for a child or for some other blessing, which you need desperately today.  The Word of God says that the Lord of hosts “remembered Hannah”.  The Lord of hosts does remember all your sacrifices at His altar.  You would have offered intercessory prayers or sacrificial offerings at His altar.  Like Hannah, you would have wept in your secret places or in the house of the Lord.  The Lord has seen all your afflictions and tears.  He has now come to bless you.  Under the New Covenant, the Lord of hosts is not afar off.  He is with us.  If you live in Christ and He lives in you, then the Lord of hosts has taken His abode in your heart.

Jehovah Shammah

In the last chapter of the prophetic book of Ezekiel, we find that the Lord divided the land of Israel as an inheritance among the twelve tribes of Israel.  The gates of the city were named after all the twelve tribes of Israel. On all the four sides i.e. north, east, south and west, one gate each measuring 4500 cubits was given to every three tribes.  All the gates were distributed equitably among all the twelve tribes without any favor towards any particular tribe. All the way around shall be 18,000 cubits (i.e. 4500 cubits for each gate for every three tribes); and the name of the city from that day shall be “THE LORD IS THERE” i.e. JEHOVAH SHAMMAH in Hebrew.

The Lord could have shown favors to some particular tribe while allotting the gates.  The gates of a city are very important for the city. A city without gates cannot exist.  Its people have to go out of the city for communicating with the outside world. If people owning the land in the city do not own the gates, their land will not be any importance to them because they are supposed to go freely out of the city and to come back.

Similarly, the Holy Spirit has placed all the members of the body of Christ in their proper places.  But we do not discover the positions assigned to us in His body.  All the members of His body are equally important and there is no element of favoritism with God in distributing His gifts and talents amongst them.

You may think that some particular evangelist used by God in Television ministry, etc. has been favored by God. In the land of Israel, the Lord did distribute the gates in an equitable manner amongst all the twelve tribes.  The Name of the city from that day i.e. from the day on which the distribution was made in an equitable manner shall be called “THE LORD IS THERE”.

When God sent the Holy Spirit to the world and anointed the body of Christ with His Spirit on the day of Pentecost, He also distributed His gifts and talents amongst all His people.  Today nobody can have any excuse and say, “I do not have any talent”.  If you have only one talent, in the sight of God, that lone talent is equivalent to two or more of His talents given to another person.  From the day of Pentecost, the body of Christ has been known as “JEHOVAH SHAMMAH”.  “THE LORD IS THERE”.  He has taken abode in the heart of every disciple of Christ.  JEHOVAH SHAMMAH is with us and in us, reminding us of His distribution of the spiritual gifts and talents among us.  Every person, on his becoming a child of God through the Blood of Jesus Christ, and being anointed with His Spirit, has one or more of the spiritual gifts and one or more the talents endowed on him/her.  He/she has to simply discover the talent or the gift already given to him/her by the Holy Spirit.  Of course, he/she also can seek more of His spiritual gifts (I Cor.14: 1).

All the members of His body can appropriate the Name of the city “THE LORD IS THERE” for them.  Are you in the furnace of afflictions for a long time?  THE LORD IS THERE to bring you out of this furnace.  Do you find that your ministry is not powerful enough for delivering people from the bondages of sin and sicknesses?  THE LORD IS THERE to deliver them from their bondages through your hands.

Jehovah Elohcnnu

“For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is HOLY: I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones” (Is.57: 15)

Our God, the High and Lofty One who inhabits eternity is called “HOLY” in this verse.  He dwells in the high and holy place.  Under the New Testament, He indwells His children.  The temple of God is our body (I Cor.3: 16-17). Secondly, He indwells that person who has a contrite and humble spirit. Holiness and humility are inseparable.  A holy person has also a contrite and humble spirit. We find in our midst many “holy people” with pride in their heart. Oh, our God revives the heart of the contrite ones.  Revival is meant only for those who have the heart of the contrite ones. In other words, God revives the spirit of those who are brokenhearted for sin. A holy person, if he commits any sin, repents with a broken heart.

God did not call us to uncleanness but in holiness.  Therefore, he who rejects this doctrine does not reject men, but God who has also given us His Holy Spirit (I Thes.4: 7-8).  God has given us His Holy Spirit to enable us to lead a holy life, and not merely to operate His spiritual gifts.  We have to put on the new man, which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness (Eph.4: 24).

Prophet Isaiah, in his vision of God, heard the praises of seraphim.  Isaiah had the revelation of God’s holiness as the seraphim cried to another, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts: The whole earth is full of His glory”.  On getting the revelation of God’s holiness, Isaiah’s eyes were opened to see his own spiritual life.  He lamented, “Woe is me, for I am undone!  Because I am a man of unclean lips…”(Is.6: 2-5).” As He who has called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy” (I Pet.1: 15-16).

Jehovah Elohay

In the 14th chapter of the prophetic book of Zechariah, the Day of the Lord is described.  The prophet saw through his prophetic eyes the end of the worldly rule by the rulers of this world and the establishment of the Kingdom of Christ over all the earth. “Behold, the day of the Lord is coming”, shouts the prophet.  Verses 2 to 5 speak about the battle of all the nations against Jerusalem, and the Lord’s fight against these nations.  “Thus the Lord my God will come and all the saints with You”, proclaims the prophet.  Who is going to come along with the saints?  His Name is revealed as “the Lord my God” i.e. “Jehovah Elohay” in Hebrew.  Who is this “my God”?  He is the Lord Jesus Christ who is going to come again along with the saints.  Christ the Word was not only with God but also was God Himself (John 1:1).  The prophet proclaims in verse 9, “And the Lord shall be King over all the earth.”  Christ is going to return to this world as the King of Kings.

Another historic event that will take place before the Lord’s second advent is the manifestation and rule of the Antichrist. The Antichrist is revealed in the visions of Daniel very clearly as follows:

VISION OF FOUR GREAT BEASTS

Please read Daniel 7:15-28. He is “the other horn” of the ten horns on the head of the fourth beast, which was different from all the others, exceedingly dreadful.  Its teeth of iron and its nails of bronze devoured, broke in pieces and trampled the residue with its feet.  It had eyes and a mouth, which spoke pompous words.

In this regard,  please take note of a glaring fact that this horn “was making war against the saints, and prevailing against them, until the Ancient of Days came and a judgment was made in favor of the saints of the Most High, and the time came for the saints to possess the Kingdom”.

This horn, a king, will arise from amongst the kingdom of the ten kings.  He will be different from the first ones.  He will speak pompous words against the Most High, and will persecute the saints of the Most High.  The cardinal point to be noted here is that he will prevail against the saints till the time of the coming of the Lord.

VISION OF A RAM AND A GOAT

Please read Daniel 8:1-27.  He is “a little horn” which grew up to the host of heaven, and which cast down some of the host and some of the stars to the ground, and trampled them.  This little horn will trample some of the saints of God who are seated with Christ in the heavenly places.  He will be a king, having fierce features and understands sinister schemes.  His power will be mighty, but not by his own power.  This means he will derive his power from the Devil.  He will destroy the mighty, and also the holy people and will even rise against the Prince of princes.  But he will be broken without human means.  The Lord will consume him with the breath of His mouth and will destroy him with the brightness of His coming (II Thes.1: 7-8).

He will make war against the people of God and will prevail against them.  He will persecute them. He will act deceitfully and will become strong with a small number of people (Dan.11: 23).  But the people who know their God shall be strong and carry out great exploits (Dan.11: 32).

When the disciples of Jesus asked Jesus to tell them the sign of His coming and of the end of the age, Jesus warned them, “Take heed that no one deceives you” (Matt.24: 3-4).  He also warned them of many false prophets and false Christs who would deceive “many” and would show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect (Matt.24: 24). If the people of God are to be deceived through the false prophets and false Christs, this can be possible through certain doctrines, which would adulterate the truths of the Bible in a subtle manner and through great signs and wonders.  We find that many preachers quote the Bible from one angle only in the same manner as the Devil quoted the Word from one angle while tempting Jesus in the wilderness. The false prophets have already sown seeds of false doctrines in our fields.

Every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God.  And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world (I John 4:1-3). Any person, who preaches that Jesus Christ is only a great social reformer or a crusader against the evil, and that Jesus Christ was not manifested in the flesh, is of the spirit of the Antichrist.

How are you prepared to face the Antichrist when he wages a war against you?  We should not underestimate the power of the enemy in a war.  We should be prepared for the war against our enemy with our own strategy but with the power of the Lord of hosts. The spirit of the Antichrist is already at work.  He has already started influencing the Christian nations to obliterate the Name of the Most High. The governments of this world are awaiting a world ruler for ushering in peace into this tumultuous world.

Jehovah Elohay is with us. He is also known as the Lord of hosts. He is equipping God’s people with His armoury to fight against the false prophets, the false teachers and the false christs.

Jehovah Tsidkenu

In Jer.23:5-6, a prophecy was foretold about the Kingdom of a King from the lineage of David, called a Branch of Righteousness who “shall reign and proper and execute judgment and righteousness in the earth.  In His days, Judah will be saved and Israel will dwell safely.  Now this is His Name by which He will be called:

Today, the holiness has become the casualty in our Christian circles.  There is no holiness in the high places of His sanctuary.  Some servants of God used of God mightily in the past succumbed to the temptations in their flesh and had fallen by the wayside. Their fall should serve as an eye-opener to us.  The children of Israel were overthrown in the wilderness because of their sins like idolatry, fornication, tempting of God, and murmuring.  “Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come” (I Cor.10:5-11).

Let us get a vision of God through the prophetic eyes of Isaiah.  “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts: The whole earth is full of His glory”.  The holiness of God is not separable from His glory i.e. His manifested presence.  We see the holiness of God all over the earth.  Whenever sin is committed, His holiness is revealed so that the people take cognizance of that particular sinful act.  Even when sin is committed in a secret place, it stands exposed because the glory of God covers the whole earth.  Every body, even an atheist, feels His glory once the sin is committed.  The holiness of God exposes the sin in this world because His glory covers the whole earth.  Christ, the Light of this world shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it (John 1:5).

We may have committed some sin in our thought-life or through our lips or in some area of our life without our knowledge.  However, God knows it because of His glory covering the earth. As such, we have to humble ourselves before His Throne of grace and plead for a daily cleansing of our sin through the Blood of Jesus.

THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUESNESS i.e. JEHOVAH TSIDKENU in Hebrew

This prophecy was fulfilled in part with the initial establishment of the Kingdom of God on the advent of our Lord Jesus Christ. John the Baptist preached, “The time is fulfilled, and the Kingdom of God is at hand; Repent, and believe in the gospel” (Mark 1:15). Repentance and new birth is the key to His Kingdom (Matt.3:1-8 & John 3:3). The Kingdom of God is not meat and drink: but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost (Rom.14:17). Those who indulge in the works of the flesh i.e. adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, etc. shall not inherit the Kingdom of God (Gal.5:19-21).

Righteousness means “uprightness before God”.  Jesus has established His Kingdom in righteousness. Jesus told His disciples that unless their righteousness exceeded the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, they would not enter into the kingdom of heaven (Mat.5:20). Jesus also said that the righteous who would feed the hungry, give water to the thirsty, care for the stranger, cloth the naked, visit the sick and those in prison would inherit the Kingdom prepared for them from the foundation of the world (Matt.25: 32-40). This refers to the future Kingdom which would be finally established on the second advent of Jesus Christ.

In Jer.23:6, it is written, in His days, Judah will be saved and Israel will dwell safely. Those who accept Jesus Christ, Who is of the tribe of Judah, are being saved.  But the nation of Israel continue to reject their Messiah throughout the history. The nation of Israel was born in 1948 after the gathering of the persecuted Jews from all over the world (Jer.23:8). They are just content with their home land, and do not bother about the Kingdom of Christ. The Israelites in flesh thus dwell safely in their land, despite the fact that  their nation is torn by violence and turmoil.

The Church, the Bride of Christ, represents the King of Kings in the earth.  Does your local church reign and prosper and execute judgment and righteousness?  You are a keeper of this Kingdom. How do you reign and prosper?  Do you reign and prosper at the cost of the sheep under your care? You should reign in righteousness.

“For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch. Watch ye therefore: for ye know now when the master of the house cometh…..”  If you have not executed judgment and righteousness amongst the citizens of His  Kingdom, He would find you sleeping when He comes back (Mark 13: 34-36).

Does your righteousness  exceed that of the modern scribes and Pharisees? Otherwise, you shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven. (Matt.5:20).  The modern scribes and Pharisees are those who profess to be religious  but are full of hypocrisy and pride. They follow all the religious rituals and the law of God only  in letter but  they lack humility and simplicity and do not follow the law of God in its spirit . They always find fault with the weak sheep but do not help them.

Do you preach righteousness like Noah, the preacher of righteousness (2 Pet.33)? These days, preachers give sugar-coated messages from the pulpit pleasing the people. Do you expose or condone the sin amongst your congregation? A dear sister of our group, namely Darlene, saw a strange vision.  She saw  a Bible covered with confectioner’s sweet on its pages, and she was cleaning it with water. These days, preachers, in order to please men, dilute the Word of God so that the people indulge in divorces, abortion, etc without  fear of God. God will hold them responsible for diluting His Word.

John the Baptist preached the way of righteousness but the chief priests and the elders of the people believed him not.  However, the publicans and the harlots believed him and repented (Matt.21:32).  Similarly, these days, there are many people belonging to other religions believe Jesus Christ, forsake sin and enter the Kingdom of God  but the Christians, claiming themselves to be born-again or Spirit-filled persons, still live in sin. They are like the Pharisees and the chief priests.

Do you practice righteousness in your personal life? (I John 2:29 & 3:7). As a soldier of the King of righteousness, you should fight for justice and righteousness in the high places. The same Kingdom of righteousness, to which we now belong, will be extended to the 1000 year old Kingdom of Christ on the second advent of Christ.

Jehovah Tsidkenu will never tolerate the sin amongst His chosen people. He will judge them because the judgment begins at the House of God.

His Name Jah

“Sing unto God, sing praises to His Name: extol Him that rideth upon the heavens by His Name “JAH”, and rejoice before Him…” (Ps.68:4).

King David sang the above psalm No.68.  The entire psalm is pervaded by the joy of Israel (now the Church, the spiritual Israel).

Are you in the furnace of afflictions? Do you feel lonely, having been forsaken by your loved ones or your spouse? The Holy Spirit is exhorting you to sing unto God and to sing praises to His Name, and to extol Him.  We should sing unto Him because He rides upon the heavens by His Name “JAH”.  JAH or YAH is also known as JEHOVAH or YAHWEH.

Our God is in full control of this world.  Let there be wars and destruction and natural calamities.  So long as we, the members of the body of Christ, trust in His Name “JAH”, we need not fear.  All His promises of protection as mentioned in Psalm 91, in its literal meaning, are for us.

Our God rides upon the heavens – above all nations and kingdoms of this world, not merely by His power but also by His Name “JAH”.  Oh, the great God Who rides by His Name has already manifested to us in Christ Jesus. He rides upon all your mount-like problems or diseases which cannot be cured by any medicine or medical treatment.

This wonderful psalm also reveals the ministry of the Son of God, in verse 18, which is explained by Paul in his epistle to Ephesians (4:7-16). “Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast led captivity captive; thou hast received gifts for men, yea, for the rebellious also, that the Lord might dwell among them”. Paul reveals the wonderful relationship between the Son’s ministry and the ministry of the Holy Spirit through the body of Christ. Christ on His resurrection and ascension into the heaven, ascended far above all the heavens that He might fill all things.  After His ascension, He sent the Holy Spirit to us in His place.  The Church, the body of Christ, was born on the day of Pentecost. The Church has been given “gifts for men”. The gift of salvation and of the Holy Spirit is the free gift of God for the human race. For bringing the fallen human race to the knowledge of salvation, and for edifying the Church, God has given gifts to the Church.

Today, it is the Church, the body of Christ, to whom Christ has given all His authority, knows the secret of His Name “JAH”. Let us bear in mind that for the salvation of the fallen human race, God has given under Heaven only the Name of Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12).  His Name “JAH” is not meant for the salvation of the human race but is meant for His chosen people, the spiritual Israel (the body of Christ).  His Name “JAH” is meant only for those who have accepted His Son Who had ascended on high, and not for those who have rejected Him.

When the unseen Antichrist afflicts the Church through his world rulers, the Church will look upon Him Who rides upon the heavens by His Name “JAH”. And, God will execute His wrath on the world rulers who are pawns in the hands of the Beast, the Antichrist.

In verses 21-23 of Psalm 68, there is wonderfully a prophetic reference to the gathering of His people (redeemed by the precious blood of Jesus Christ, and scattered all over the world) in His one body and also to the destruction of the Beast and his armies. (See “Beast” in Dan.7:8, Rev.19:20, Rev.16:15 and Rev.19:17-19).

Dear child of God redeemed by the precious blood of Jesus Christ, has your spouse forsaken you, making your children fatherless? Our God, Whose Name is JEHOVAH, is the father of the fatherless. Are you, a widow, facing severe afflictions in your life? Our God, Whose Name is JEHOVAH, is the judge of the widows. (Ps.68:5)

Having been forsaken by your loved ones or our spouse, have you become a solitary one in your family? God, Whose Name is JEHOVAH, sets you, the solitary, in your family. This means that He Himself fills the void in your life.  Do not seek re-marriage so long as your divorced spouse lives! Let God be all in all for you. Are you bound with the chain of indebtedness or mental depression caused by an evil spirit? If you hum
